Lifting the lid on lunchboxes
It’s official – only 1% of primary school kid’s packed lunches have been deemed healthy by a recent UK-based survey – so the majority fail to meet the nutritional standards set for school meals in England.
The survey, based on 1,300 school children, aged 8-9 years, noted that too many lunchboxes are filled with snack foods, crisps and sugary drinks. But it can be hard for parents to know how to keep packed lunchboxes nutritious, whilst appealing to fussy eaters at the same time. Preparing a packed lunch can quickly feel like Groundhog Day – trying to keep a box’s contents varied, as well as healthy, can be quite a demanding task. Get set for Sport Relief
In 2008 thousands of primary and secondary schools collectively raised over £2million for Sport Relief, to help change lives.
This year, Sport Relief will take place on 19-21 March and even more schools are looking to get involved.
